KALEVALA
One of Finland's great gifts to the humanity is the Kalevala--the poems and songs of the Ancient Finnish Epic Tradition. The Kalevala is far more than mythology; it is an allegorical saga which conceals and reveals the Mysteries of Spiritual Initiation--to those who understand.Christ spoke in parables to the uneducated people of his time. These parables revealed deep truths to those who could "see" them. For others, they were simply a story.
The stories of the Kalevala are similar. For some they are merely an entertaining adventure. For others--far deeper in their insight--they tell the story of every human soul as it undertakes the Greatest Adventure of All--the achievement of spiritual mastery through initiation.
Students of the world religious and philosophical traditions will recognize the archetypal meaning of the three leading figures or protagonists of the Kalevala--Väinämöinen, Lemminkainen, and Ilmarinen. The Christian Trinity and the Hindu Triumurti are clearly represented in these three figures who express the three great aspects of divinity found in every man and woman.
We assume that through a deep study of the Kalevala and its magic the student of the Mysteries will strengthen his or her spirituality and penetrate more rapidly to the heart of the initiatory process.
